A Song for Rebecca
I sing a song for Rebecca, though I will not sing with her again.
I show a smile for Rebecca though her jokes have come to an end.
No, I have not finished crying and I will never finish missing her.
No, I have not finished hurting and I will never finish loving her.

When I think about my sister and I dream of all those years,
I find myself starting to smile and then I wipe away my tears.
She came in May and left in May, teaching Spring's life in laughing song.
Though we no longer see her, she will not be our Winter while she's gone.

I sing a song for a kindness that even to the end her heart did hold,
for she wrecked her car to save an animal standing helplessly in the road.
She showed that there is always time for laughter as long as joking brought no pain.
She showed that no matter who you were, in her eyes, we were all the same.

She taught us that worrying is pointless but that dreaming is a perfect use of time.
She taught us that being angry is just plain silly but that forgivness is divine.
Rebecca knew 'twas better to give than receive
and as her final present, she gave us memories.

I sing a song for a beauty on the outside as well as in.
I smile because I'm her big brother and many called her 'Friend'.
No, I have not finished crying and I will never finish missing her.
No, I have not finished hurting and I will never finish loving her.

I see her dressed in purple velvet running barefoot through a field.
I remember all the happy times and my heart begins to heal.
Though some may say her life was ended before it had yet begun,
I know at twenty she lived life more fully and touched more hearts
than some who live beyond ninety-one.

So sing a song for Rebecca and in our hearts we'll know that it's true,
that somewhere far away, she is laughing and that she is singing too.

Don't cry, Baby.
I Love you.
